Following the inspection, you will receive a full color PDF survey report emailed to you with photos and recommendations. This is your survey and we will forward it to whomever you would like on your behalf.

Do You Need A Marine Survey?

If you are purchasing a boat in Minnesota, you should know it’s condition and current market value. A pre-purchase marine survey is a thorough inspect, evaluation, even if you are buying through a reputable broker. Often surveys will turn up problems that may not be easily found or seen. A pre-purchase survey is the most detailed and thorough marine survey. A sea trial, oil samples, and bottom inspection, may yield even more useful information regarding the vessel’s performance and condition.

Insurance companies and financial institutions in Minnesota often request/ require a marine survey. A condition and value survey will generally be required. Check with your insurer or financial institution to see which they will require.

Selling your boat in Minnesota and need to know what kind of repairs or improvements should be made to command a premium for the vessel. A condition and value marine survey can often pay for itself with higher sale prices for a vessel in top condition. Also knowing that the safety and integrity of the vessel have been looked at by a professional surveyor.

The price of a survey is dependent upon the type of survey requested as well as the size and age of the vessel.  The cost of a survey is more about value and peace of mind rather than dollars spent. When you’re on your boat, you, your family, crew, and passengers need and want to feel safe and secure. A marine survey serves that need by putting an experienced set of eyes on the boat that are independent and unbiased. Even if you’re an experienced, seasoned mariner, a marine survey is always worthwhile and normally required by lenders, insurance companies, and some marinas in Minnesota. I can’t tell you how many times I have found a dangerous, potentially deadly problem on a boat that the owner thought was OK.  With the safety of your family and friends at stake do you really want a cheap marine survey?
